Automotive · Better customer experience

One data foundation for vehicles, products, dealers and accessories across Europe

EU headquarters and every country team ran their own legacy applications. One governed foundation now feeds validated, always up-to-date data back to countries and dealers, and powers journeys such as online configurators, used-car sales and service reminders.

100%

of digital customer touchpoints run on one standardised, trusted dataset

Faster

time to market for new digital customer journeys and AI

End-to-end

observability and automated quality checks on every data pipeline

The story in six steps

From business problem to time to value.

01Business problem

Regional markets, central operations and local retail networks each ran their own legacy systems, and each held its own version of the master data: vehicle specifications, prices, dealer structures, used-car stock, accessories. The same record existed several times and the copies disagreed. That made unified digital experiences such as online configurators, dealer locators and customer portals hard to deliver, eroded trust in the core data and slowed every decision that cut across markets.

02Intervention

A progressive, domain-by-domain transformation instead of a high-risk platform overhaul. First, clear ownership per data domain: product catalogue and pricing, retail networks, vehicle lifecycle events, inventory publication, starting with the customer journeys that mattered most. Then a deliberately small foundation on the essential sources, regional pilots and a step-by-step roll-out across all markets. Quality and governance were built in as adoption grew: automated anomaly detection, continuous reconciliation and standard delivery criteria, so the data stayed trustworthy at scale.

03Role of data & AI

This is the data work that makes AI, automation and predictive services possible. Domain-oriented event streams and API models replaced rigid, monolithic schemas, with clear ownership, secure modern access and privacy by design.

Two examples:

  • Service reminders: the car's live mileage, its service history and the dealer's availability tell us when the next service is due, and the owner gets a reminder to book.
  • Online sales: configurations, prices and local stock update in one place, so the digital showroom, valuations and online reservations always show the same thing.

04Data quality & adoption

Central platforms, regional business units, local retail partners and third-party consumer channels all read the same real-time data through standard APIs and event pipelines. End-to-end observability watches data flow and system health, and automated testing catches data discrepancies at the source before they get exposed to end customers.

05Measurable impact

One reliable set of master data across all operating markets. No more manual reconciliation between systems, fewer point-to-point integrations and a faster time to market for regional teams. Customers get the same reliable experience on the web, in the app and at the dealer. And a trusted, high-integrity data core that speeds up the machine learning, personalisation and analytics use cases built on top of it.

06Time to value

Value came in steps. The highest-priority journeys went live on minimum viable datasets in pilot markets well before the platform was complete, which validated the business case early, reduced risk and improved operations right away.
